[18 Aug 2005|02:43am]
here are some updates to hold over for awhile.

we are currently guitar-less and will be taking
a short hiatus while we look for a new guitarist.

we are certainly not breaking up,
in fact, quite the opposite. some new doors have
started to open for us that we are very excited about.
so, in the midst of our guitarist search we will
use our time writing and recording new material and
taking other steps to further the band so once we
find our new member, we are ready to go!

as far as the immediate future goes,
we may, possibly play a couple shows here and there
with "guest" guitarists as well as some possible
scattered Spill Kit performances ( www.myspace.com/spillkit ),
so keep an eye out and before you know it, we will be back in your
loving arms.

also, thanks to everyone that came and saw us
at Soul Fest, it was an amazing experience and we
really appreciate everyone's support.

see you soon!

rumors/drama/issues concerning Bryan and the HFC [09 Aug 2005|03:02pm]
as some of you may or may not have known for the last month or so, Bryan had decided to leave the band. he stuck out one more tour with us which we appreciated, and decided to play three final shows when we got home including the Inside Out Soul Festival. between the issues on tour, and the issues that came about once home, we as a band had to ask Bryan not to join us at Inside Out.

understandably hurt, Bryan has decided to make some posts and comments about how we've "screwed him" and other personal opinions on us. we as a band want to make the statement that we struggled with the decision, the very difficult decision, for a long time and we feel we made the right decision in the end. we're sorry if anyone that knows us as friends or just on personal levels feel that what we did was wrong or unfair, but please know that we as a band had to make a decision based off two months of inner band struggles.

we understand that this is a difficult situation for some people and we ask everyone to keep an open mind and understand that this was nothing we wanted to do and it killed us to do so, but unfortunately we have dealt with heart breaking inner band politics for a long time and when push came to shove, we did what we felt we had to do.

Bryan was an crucial, full fledged, very important part of the Human Flight Committee for three years. we love him and will miss him. unfortunately in the last month or so he made it painfully clear that he did not want to be apart of the band in any way and reminded us of that constantly to the point where it became too much for us to take.

again, we love Bryan as a person and wish him the best of luck in what he decides to do in his life, but we stand by the decision we made and we hope everyone understands.

if you have any questions or concerns, or hear things that may make you question us, please feel free to come to us with any issues.

thank you.

report from Soul Fest! [07 Aug 2005|10:59pm]
we just got back from the 5 days at Inside Out Soul Festival.
first of all, thank you to everyone that came out to our set. we were stoked to see that so many people came out to our set even with everything else going on, and even during lunch!

to those who didn't make it, it was absolutely incredible.
not only we did we have the privelage of playing in front of so many awesome friends, fans, and new comers... but we found our way into something extra special.

a hip-hop group scheduled to play at 7pm did not show up, we originally asked if we could just take the hip-hop groups slot, and they said that would be ok, but they needed to keep it hip-hop. so our brains started cooking and this is what happened...

so... with the help of Ms. Grace The Car and other amazing people at the fest, we pulled off a once in a life time kind of specticle. 7pm rolls around and the HFC takes the stage. we begin with The Reticle Demographic and things proceed as normal, we come up to the second verse, stop the song dead, and bring out Tooth and Nail hip-hop genius Manafest and he completely rips it up over the 2nd verse of The Reticle Demographic. we continue through the chorus and when we hit the bridge, we called out two AMAZING break dancers to completely tear the stage apart while we jammed out the rock/Michael Jackson-esque/re-mixed bridge of Reticle.

after we cleaned up that little number. we begin our new song Tint and Quarantine. once again, things proceed as normal... the chorus comes up and Ms. Grace The Car joins us to bring the choruses home. we get to the second verse, and we bring out Solomon from Family Force Five and he raps the lyrics to "Welcome To The Jungle" over the 2nd verse of Tint...

this bring us to the grand finale...
we begind The Five Second Saga, get through the first verse, everything's normal... coming up to the dance rock... music stops "And now we John Reuben!" we break into the dance part, and John Reuben, one of todays best hip-hop artists comes out and rips it up through the entire rest of The Five Second Saga.

then to close it out, we just jammed out a funky little number and let John, Manafest and the break dancers take over the stage while we laid some "sweet grooves" down for them.

long story short... it was one of the funnest, most creative, most satisfying things we've done as a band. to link dancey, progressive indie rock, with top notch hip-hop, and have it all slapped together in less than an hour, and have it go off with out a hitch in front of multiples of hundreds of people... it has placed permanent smiles on our faces.

any who...
the festival was awesome.

our girls in She's The Car owned their set.
they were pretty much the first band of the entire festival and drew in well over 100 kids and showed them what girl rock was all about. girls at the fest constantly went up to them telling them how inspiring they were, we're beyond proud of our friends and fellow band-ians.

there are some pics from Soul Fest up in our pictures at MySpace right now, more will be up soon.

GOOD TIMES!

one more reminder...! [29 Apr 2005|01:09pm]
last chance to get 5 day passes for IOSF for only $75!
here is what you do...

go to either www.thesoulfest.com
or call 978-346-4577 to purchase tickets.
if you use the website you enter this code,
or just mention it on the phone...

the code is: humanflightmusic

*if you order online, you must order "Pledge & Promote" passes listed at the bottom of the "Adult Passes" section. the discount will not work with "normal" adult passes. the discount will not appear until after the coupon code is entered, just prior to entering credit card info.*

and that's pretty much it,
that saves you $15 on each multi-day pass you buy!

just that easy! get as many as you want, tell whoever you want.
it's cheaper then even the group rates, so take advantage of it!!

the $75 price ends tomorrow at which time our rate goes up to around $87 and the group and normal rates jump up to $95+

4 + 1 - 1 = 4 [24 Apr 2005|10:08pm]
we are saddened to announce that Alex has decided
to leave the band to attend college. there are no
hard feelings between any band members and we
wish Alex the best of luck with everything he does.

Alex will play out the next few weeks of shows with
us, and his final performance will be on June 17th at
Drifters in Nashua, NH. this will also be Aaron's final
show on drums. you can be sure that given the
major land mark of the band's career, we will be
playing older songs spanning from the begining of the
band that have not been performed in years and will
more than likely never be performed again.
all in all it will be a show you will NOT want to miss!

the Human Flight Committee proudly welcomes our new drummer Garret!

we got to jam and hang out with Garret for the last few days and everything just seemed to click. he's a great drummer and a great dude and we're really excited to have him be a part of the band. Garret will probably be playing out with us by early or mid May!

gone now but not forgotten... [22 Mar 2005|01:16pm]
[ mood | sad ]
[ music | ateriavia ]

we recently found out that a friend of the HFC's has left us...

</center>

ateriavia

our friends Ateriavia from IL are no longer a band as of this week.
we are very bummed out about this. they were one of the better bands we have played with... period. they definitely had the promise to go places and we will miss their music.
if you have not heard Ateriavia, visit them online:
www.myspace.com/ateriavia
www.purevolume.com/ateriavia
www.ateriavia.com

and you should most certainly pick up their recent album before it dissapears forever!

our dates in May that were with Ateriavia will NOT be CANCELED...
obviously/unfortunately Ateriavia will be replaced on the bill,
but the shows themselves will NOT be CANCELED.
